They are called the California Red Livermore Walnut, named after California farmer Robert S. Livermore (1926-1997).
These rare, raw, vibrant red kernels are nutrient-dense and have an exquisite taste. Red walnuts have a smooth and creamy texture with a slightly sweeter flavor than an English walnut. They’re packed with omega-3s, vitamin E, magnesium and phosphorus, which means they’re great for your heart and anti-inflammation.
Red Livermore walnuts were developed in 1991 at the University of California, Davis, through natural crossbreeding done by grafting Persian, red-skinned walnuts with English walnuts. It is non-GMO!
These nuts, grown in California, add a fun pop of color to baked goods.
