Heirloom Blenheim Dried Apricots

One of our best-sellers! California's heirloom Blenheim dried apricots are a delicious treat featuring a sweet-tangy apricot flavor.

The best apricots in the world are grown in Santa Clara and San Benito counties, and the best variety is an heirloom called the Blenheim. All of our heirloom Blenheim dried apricots are from Hollister, where the weather and soil conditions are excellent for growing the delicate variety.

Though it thrives in this area, the Blenheim has become scarce as farmland is replaced by businesses and housing. It’s also such a delicate variety (it bruises easily), most farmers do not bother with it. The solution: drying!

We’ve worked with the same farmer for over 40 years to provide these locally grown treats. Mark Gibson grows and processes the apricots with meticulous care. He picks at the peak of ripeness, hand cuts the fruit in half and dries them in the sun, a process which helps retain the natural, bright orange color, vitamins and minerals.

They're great out of hand, but we also like to use them in some recipes. Check out our blog for some inspiration:

The Absolute Best Apricots!

Sigona’s was my favorite market for decades when living in the Bay Area. After moving to Arizona in 2015, I appreciate even more their quality produce and service. Blenheim apricots are NOT available here, so when I discovered I could order them on line, and on sale, from Sigona’s, I was thrilled! They arrived shortly, in perfect condition. Can hardly wait to make my great grandmother’s apricot pie! Sigona’s is the ABSOLUTE BEST, too!!
